Sittingbourne is a town located on a creek of the Swale channel, the stretch of water that separates the Isle of Sheppey from the mainland.
The town has in recent years seen rapid expansion with new developments being built in the town to pick up on the demand for property in the area. However, the demand for property is not a new one. The town can trace its history back to the copper age, with archaeological finds in the town dating back to 2500BC. The town is also mentioned in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, and was a major industrial town in the county during the industrial revolution.
Sittingbourne today is a vibrant and busy town, with a number of large employers in the area. Also, many residential areas have been constructed on brownfield sites. It has good connections with the national road and rail networks, with the M2 and M20 a short drive away, and train services to London either on standard or high speed lines.
