We had a growing family at the time we first saw this property and we instantly fell in love with the house: it was a case of the right place at the right time. The property had been empty for 9 months or so, but we saw the challenge and promptly set to work the day we moved in! The loft was converted a couple of years ago and it was the final piece of the jigsaw: the first night of being able to sleep there was fantastic, it's a very tranquil, relaxing room.The house is set within a quiet cul-de-sac, and the kids spent their childhoods having picnics on the island and whizzing around it on their bikes. The park at the end of the garden is a joy, and we ve always thought of it as our extended garden. The neighbours are great and we ve co-organised many street parties over the years with BBQs and live music.We are within a 10 minute walk of the station and just 15 minutes from the town centre, so all of the shops and amenities are practically on our doorstep - markets, cinema, swimming pool, train station, pubs, etc - and plenty of festivals, antiques and artisan food markets throughout the year. Dog-walking is easy, through fields and woodlands, and wandering out to the pub in the next village is a must. Through town we can easily walk along the creek, the Saxon Shore Way, or even to Whitstable!Canterbury and Ashford are 10 miles away; we have the coast on our doorstep and London just over an hour away on the train.
