Seen by many as a town that has seen better days, Margate is in fact making fast tracks to redevelopment and reclaiming its place as a tourist destination and an investment hot-spot. The Turner Contemporary, named after J.M.W. Turner who painted in the town, and the redevelopment of Dreamland as a heritage theme park have been the main catalyst for the rebirth of the town.

Margate is able to take advantage of HS1, with high speed services between the town and London making the capital just under an hour and a half away. Also there is easy access to the motorway network via the Thanet Way which links through to the M2. The town centre is a mix of high street chains at the top end of the high street, with independent stores and retailers in the old town towards the harbour arm, also Westwood Cross shopping centre is only a few minutes drive from the town centre.

The surrounding small towns and villages of Westgate-on-Sea, Cliftonville, Birchington, Garlinge and Minnis Bay are a mix of historic buildings and contemporary new builds. Many of the older properties in the area are in the process of redevelopment and refurbishment, and offer exciting investment opportunities in the buy to let market.
